The BunkHouse

 Steps from the Maine House, the Bunkhouse is a strikingly cool and versatile retreat that sleeps an additional six guests. With loft-style sleeping tucked above and private outdoor showers that make the most of the setting, it’s a space full of charm and surprises. Defined by floor-to-ceiling glass walls that open completely on both ends — each fitted with full insect screens — the Bunkhouse flows effortlessly into the outdoors. One side features a cozy firepit, the other a hot tub and seating area overlooking open fields where deer often graze, with sweeping water views beyond. Open seasonally from April through the end of October, it’s designed for gathering, relaxing, and soaking in the beauty of the island. 

A beautiful winding staircase leads to two lofts: one loft tucks a king bed beneath the eaves, creating a private, restful perch; the other loft holds four twin beds, a light, playful arrangement perfect for kids, cousins, or friends.

The Bunkhouse features two bathrooms, each with its own private entrance to an outdoor shower. Step outside and rinse off under the open sky, with sweeping water views all around and the sun gently warming your shoulders — a refreshing experience that feels both luxurious and connected to nature.

The Bunkhouse is stocked with everything you need for effortless downtime: a well-equipped kitchenette with grill, microwave, ice machine, blender, plates, glasses, and silverware makes it easy to handle breakfast, snacks, and drinks. Gather at the bar with the game or a movie playing on the TV, or simply open the glass walls and let the outdoors become part of your living space.
